Why Your Photographer is Afraid to Curse

Why Your Photographer is Afraid to Curse

So you've spoken with a few wedding photographers while trying to figure out who is going to capture your day.  They've replied with a lot of "Oh. My. God. I. Just. Love. [fill in the blank]" and "Oh sweetheart, I'm just so excited and I just love you guys already and [drooly over the top could possibly be covered in glitter if it were possible to email glitter exaggeration]"...... It all comes off as a little much right?  Seems like it might be over the top?  Is this person really like this in person?

Bull Shit.

Jessica and Jacob's Baltimore Engagement

Jessica and Jacob's Baltimore Engagement

These two met back in there college days at University of Baltimore (circa 2011) when they were both a part of the SGA.  They may have butted heads at first, mostly Jessica rejecting Jacob, but fate prevailed when she was tasked with drunk-sitting her future husband.  I do mean future husband because it was at this moment that Jacob asked Jessica to marry him for the first time (no seriously, he did, they told me).  With lots of laughs and many years later Jacob finally popped the question for real and for obvious reasons Jessica said yes.

Looking Back at 2015 and Forward to 2016

Looking Back at 2015 and Forward to 2016

Well damn... guess that's a wrap for 2015 huh?  What a crazy little year I had.  Shot a ton of weddings, met a ton of awesome people, and all the other nonsense that happened.  Lets recap all of the "other nonsense" and some of the other shit that went down.  Then we can look forward to the FUTURE (or next week since that's when 2016 happens).

Carolyn and Josh's Federal Hill Engagement

Carolyn and Josh's Federal Hill Engagement

Engagement photography is a lot of fun.  While that is a bland statement if there ever was one, allow me to elaborate.  Engagement photography is fun because it is such a unique and relaxed type of shoot.  You the couple, has no external pressures on you (at least not the ones that exist on a wedding day or in a family shoot) and I (the photographer) get to play around and make beautiful moments.

Vemödalen

Vemödalen

vemödalen

n. the frustration of photographing something amazing when thousands of identical photos already exist - the same sunset, the same waterfall, the same curve of a hip the same closeup of an eye - which can turn a unique subject into something hollow and pulpy and cheap, like a mass-produced piece of furniture you happen to have assembled yourself.

Kyle and Rina's Annapolis Engagement

Kyle and Rina's Annapolis Engagement

These photos may be old but the story is important.  Shortly after deciding to start my photography business some close friends of mine asked me to shoot engagement photos of them in Annapolis.  Now I've known Kyle my entire life, his father and my father have been best friends since high school.  So having the opportunity to photograph him with his fiance Rina was a really an honor.

MS Walk Maryland

MS Walk Maryland

On a chilly morning the Multiple Sclerosis Maryland, MS Walk 2015 happened in Hunt Valley.  With an HUGE turnout, the 2015 Walk was a giant success.  Remember, it's important to use the gifts you have to help others.  This could mean donating your time as a volunteer, raising money, or donating your professional skills to an organization in need.

Bethany and Mark in Fells Point

Bethany and Mark in Fells Point

I've wanted to do an engagement photo shoot in Fells Point for quite a while now, Bethany and Mark gave me that chance.  We met early on a BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning and proceeded to wonder around the cute historic residential area that surrounds one of my favorite neighborhoods to grab a drink, particularly a good beer (gotta love Max's Tap House).  Bethany and Mark met while working for the same company a few years back.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 65 Roses in Annapolis

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 65 Roses in Annapolis

As you all are aware I'm a proponent of using the gifts you have to support charities and give back.  I had the opportunity to help with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's 65 Roses Event hosted by Jenna (www.ruffdraftsolutions.com) at Union Jack's in Annapolis.  This was an amazing event with many amazing groups who donated their time and goods for auction.  There was even an awesome imrpov show by Free Range Improve (www.freerangeimprov.com).  It was an amazing night that managed to raise a significant amount of money for CFF.

Ashley and Joe's Rustic Wedding

Ashley and Joe's Rustic Wedding

On an exceptionally warm day in May, Ashley and Joe celebrated their wedding in the most beautiful way possible.  These two are a truly stunning and beyond that some of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting.  The ceremony was absolutely lovely and the reception, held at Grimmel Farms, was something straight out of Pintrest!  This rustic wedding was just truly beautiful.
